| Our events were on the whole very successful. We had a good exchange with our visitors at lunch. The afternoon event was well-attended with between 70-80 people through most of the workshop. Sophia Lafontant, Jeff Vogt and Jesse Swanhuyser gave clear and concise presentations about CAFTA, AFTA and the disastrous consequences of these "free trade" agreements. Many undergraduate students were clearly enthusiastic and sought out the speakers at the end. Pulling off these events was possible only because of a great group effort. In particular I want to thank David Smith, Vivian Price, Linda Vo, Roberto Gonzalez, Sylvia Martin, Travis Tanner, Helen Chenut, Wai Kit Choi, Mat Mahutga, and Gilbert Gonzalez for their individual contribution to the effort. There were many other professors and graduate student who publicized the event and encouraged attendance. Barbara Abell was her usual helpful and efficient support. Our colleagues at the Cross-Cultural Center, Anna Gonzalez and Sunny Lee, deserve a prize for hosting the main event, preparing the hall for it, and making sure that everything went off technically without a hitch.
